Wella Signature Artist, Carrera Alvarez, began her career as a colorist at Vidal Sassoon where she quickly found her passion for education focusing on color craft. For 21 years, her career has guided her through many paths in the industry: working behind the chair, as a celebrity colorist, cosmetology director and Wella Color Master. Carrera works with stylists throughout the western states to support their continued technical skill development, while teaching them how to retain and grow their existing businesses. Her wealth of knowledge and passion for teaching has earned her the honor of Wella Professionals Trainer of the year in 2017 and 2021. She is based in Southern California.   

Washington, DC-based Wella Professionals Signature Artist, Alicia Avanpre, is known for her detailed approach to color theory and suitability knowledge, which she is thrilled to share in creative learning environments. Her 10-year career has led her to some of the most prestigious programs in the industry, and she’s been recognized for her work as a Sassoon Top Colorist. Alicia specializes in seamless dimension and is a formulation specialist, and will educate fellow stylists about expanding chemical service tickets, product education and client integrity.

Christopher Cetroni is a Wella Professionals Signature Artist from the NYC Metro area with 20 years of styling experience. He began his career as a stylist focused on cutting and styling all hair textures, developing a specialty in creative color placement with customized formulation. Christopher is passionate about sharing his knowledge and skills, which led him to become a Wella Professionals Brand Educator and eventually a Wella Professionals Signature Artist. He specializes in Wella CutCraft and Sebastian Cutting techniques, and has partnered in the design of curriculum that is facilitated throughout North America on color, cutting, finishing, and curly hair specific techniques. Named “Most Innovative” and “Trainer of the Year,” Christopher teaches stylists the art of elevating the customer experience to create a higher service value.

Over his 10-year career, Wella Professionals Los Angeles Signature Artist, Tommy Gentile, has developed a love for continuing education. After earning his Wella Color Master certification and witnessing the impact it had on his approach to business, he joined the Wella Professionals Signature Artist team in 2021 to share his knowledge with others. As a stylist, Tommy specializes in natural looks with customized color placements, balayage and lived-in color, while as a businessperson, he teaches students how to increase productivity, add on services and optimize time management. He is passionate about his craft and collaborating with other stylists and artists.

Matthew Luce brings a variety of experiences to the Wella Professionals Signature Artist team after 17 years in the beauty industry, ranging from stylist to the stars for editorial shoots to working as an educator at top salons. His background includes precision cutting at Vidal Sassoon San Francisco, Education Direction at the legendary Oxenrose San Francisco to brand education across many of the brands within the Wella Professionals portfolio. Based in Los Angeles, Matthew is currently responsible for co-creating and deploying custom curriculum for top accounts, capability building within the organization and partnering with the Signature Artist team. He has continued his education with a certification in Wella CutCraft and strives for excellence in all he does.

For 13 years, Wella Professionals North America Signature Artist, Jennifer Ng has perfected the craft of cutting, coloring and styling to create complete transformations for her clients. She is passionate about growing the success of beauty professionals, making her the ideal instructor for new stylists looking to find their voice through creativity. After traveling the world and studying abroad in Asia, Jennifer is now based in Boston, where she combines her experiences as an educator, business manager and salon owner to inspire others and offer a meaningful education to fellow stylists. Jennifer was awarded Wella Professionals Trainer of the Year in 2020.

Luis Payne Joins the signature artist team with twenty years of experience in Color and cut craft. Luis found a passion for sharing education five years into his career in both cutting and styling whilst representing a collection of brands as a top educator. Through dedication and passion Luis returned to school in 2008 to acquire his barbering credentials expanding his knowledge and expertise in male grooming. Luis later began to contribute to the beauty industry as a Top Artist for Sebastian Professional. Luis relocated to New York as the Artistic Director for a prestigious salon. There he joined a the MCE alumni in 2014 continuing to educate and mentor his team in editorial shoots, theatrical productions, and NY fashion shows. In 2020 Luis found his way back to California As a leader, a mentor, and texture specialist. Payne has mentored and educated countless stylists and inspired thousands nationwide with his talents for coloring, cutting, and styling.

Lindsey Rice is a Wella Professionals Signature Artist based in San Diego and plays the role of coach and mentor, supporting the continued growth and development of stylists and educators. Lindsey has 17 years of experience in beauty and education—beginning with Sassoon Cut and Color methodology and moving forward to receive her Wella Color Master certification in 2013. Always focused on precision and client suitability, Lindsey’s current color passions are hyper-natural color, soft natural dimension, balayage, and tone on tone reflection. Her approach to education is always thorough and dedicated to the growth of beauty professionals at all stages of their careers. Lindsey also specializes in helping stylists grow a social media presence to gain new clientele.

Jessica Stranieri is a North American Wella Professionals Signature Artist, traveling throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions to inspire and educate through craft mastery and expert product knowledge. Based in New Jersey, Jessica has nearly 20 years of experience in the beauty industry, where she developed a diverse skill set ranging from salon business management to education facilitation. She specializes in helping stylists develop their personal branding through social media and create a service menu that reflects their individual skills.

Based in Florida and with 33 years of experience, Jay Thornhill is a globally-trained Wella Professionals Signature Artist responsible for training stylists and educators in the southeastern United States. He is passionate about color science, especially corrective color, and is certified in Wella CutCraft and Sassoon ABC’s of Cutting. Jay centers his teaching focus on color technique and how to increase retail sales, and recently partnered with the research and development team to collaborate and test new Wella Professionals products and initiatives. His true passion is inspiring other stylists and helping them grow their careers.

Erik Thrane is a Signature Artist based at the Wella Professionals Los Angeles Studio. With 12 years of experience in the industry, nine of which in education, Erik is inspired by collaborating and sharing his knowledge with stylists of all levels. He specializes in custom color placement with layered tones, and currently leads the prestigious Wella Color Master program in Los Angeles. Teaching fellow stylists how to maximize their technical and business potential through pricing and service development is his main focus as an educator.
